Icons - Becoming Bridget Bardot!

Hello beauties!

This week as I’m sure everyone will know - whether you’re happy about it, or in my case not so much - saw the beginning of the 2014 World Cup. I’m really not a massive fan of football, but my better half Matt of At the Far Post is and aside from annoying me with it, he'll be blogging his opinions on the world cup, so if you're male counterparts are being all footbally, send them over to there!!! However ill be avoiding football talks and matches ill be burying myself in makeup - no surprise there!!! But on to the more important....

Very 60's shoot here!

This week I created a Bridget Bardot inspired sixties look  - if you're thinking 'Who on God's green earth is Bardot?' Well, she was a massive style icon of the 50's and 60's known for amazing hair and beautiful feline makeup among other things! My take on her look is a sultry cat eye, with dewy skin and a pale pink lips.

So to begin with I went ahead and used a fairly light coverage foundation, from the MUA pro-base palette, I also used the concealer to cover the dark spots around my nose and a couple of blemishes. I went straight onto the eyes this time, and contoured afterwards.

For this look I used the Au Natural palette by Sleek. To start with I applied Moss over the lid, using the shadow brush from the Sleek brush set. I blended this out a little as I applied it just so there wasn't any harsh line, as this is a quite smudged up look.
No harsh lines zone!

I then went over this is with Conker, using the same shadow brush very lightly to build up the colour, blending this outwards to keep this smudgeyness (yes this is now a word).

Building up the colour!

To finish the shadowing, I blended a mix of Bark and Mineral Earth into the crease of the eye, to give it a little contouring and make it a little smokey.

Interesting face

The liner is when the 60's really come into this look I started the liner by drawing a very very line from the tear duct right up to the centre of the eye. I then created the feline like flick by drawing a straight line from outer end of the lash line and then joining this into the middle liner. It’s very difficult to explain how to do the line so if you’d like to see a pictorial on different liners!

Trying to be serious

And here's a bit of a side view so you can see how I shaped my flick! I also lined both lower and upper waterlines with a kohl pencil!

I then went on to contour very very slightly, in the usual way of circular motions on the cheek bones, but this time not taking it past halfway down the cheekbone. I highlighted the apples of the cheek to create a bit of dew and then added blush, in little circular motions to add a little flush to the cheeks!

Contouring fun!

Finally I lined the lips with the pale pink lip, and then filled them in. I chose a lighter shade as this look was quite bold so a paler lips put the focus back on the eyes!

All done!

There you have it, my take on a Bridget Bardot look! Let me know what you think and if you have any requests or criticisms

Thanks, and see you soon

Lynds xx
